This website is designed to assist you with the process of researching and planning for your future vocational pathways.
The links at left will lead to a variety of areas. It is advised, however, that before you seek the 'facts', you take the time to consider the following points:
- There is no longer such a thing as a 'job for life'. Be prepared for change. On average, people of your generation can expect to change careers, not simply jobs, three to five times over a working life.
- We are here to help, but it is not the school's job to tell you what direction you should take. We will listen, advise and help with preparation, but ultimately the decision is yours! As the ancient Chinsese proverb goes: ‘Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime’.
- Start early. Give yourself plenty of time to explore the full range of opportunities that are open to you.
- There is no 'right' pathway. Plumber or paediatrician, cabinet-maker or cartographer, electrician or environmental scientist—you need to choose what you think will make you happy.
